Tonight I attended a showing of “The Rescue,” a documentary made by the organization Invisible Children. The organization was started by three young film makers trying to expose the terrible reality of children in Uganda being abducted and forced into a life as child soldiers in Africa’s longest running war. Visit their website to learn more about Invisible Children, how to get involved and the history of these children and the war they are forced into fighting.

The documentary was heartrending as it depicted the tragic stories of these children being violently taken from their families and forced into a world of violence and terror. It also depicted hope. Much progress has occured following the work done by the film makers and Invidisble Children.
The screening was part of Invisible Children’s world tour this spring promoting their next big event this April bringing awareness to their cause. To learn more, visit their website.
I was surprised to see Ivory Mobley, who left the band Showbread in 2007, as one of the roadies traveling on the tour to spread the word about Invisible Children. Like the rest of the roadies, Mobley, who I got to speak with for a second, is traveling with the tour for five months across the United States.

Another great organization is ChildVoice International. They are working directly with former child soldiers and child mothers in Uganda. Check out their website at http://www.childvoiceintl.org.
